The test covers:
- Food & Farming in South Africa – 10 marks: different types of farming, including large stock, small stock, poultry and crops, as well as subsistence farming, crop rotation, stock farming and challenges faced by South African farmers.
- Farming Areas in South Africa: interpreting a map of important animal farming areas to identify where cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs and ostriches are farmed.
- Water in South Africa – 15 marks: identifying everyday uses of water, including bathing, cleaning, drinking and cooking.
- The Water Cycle: understanding evaporation and condensation and how water moves through the water cycle.
- Water as a Resource: South Africa's water sources, water scarcity, droughts, dams, water conservation and water pollution, including practical ways to reduce water wastage at home.
Question types include: matching, short-answer questions, map interpretation, picture-based questions, fill-in-the-blanks and application questions.
