About this resource

Help your Grade 5 learner prepare for Term 1 History with this comprehensive ATP-aligned 30-mark practice test, complete with a full memorandum. The test has a duration of 45 minutes.

The test covers:

  • The San & Khoikhoi: understanding the differences between San hunter-gatherers and Khoikhoi herders, their lifestyles, movement, use of natural resources and how they shared the same landscape.
  • Rock Art & Evidence from the Past: what San rock paintings reveal about hunter-gatherer life, how stories were passed between generations and how books and ethnography help us understand past societies.
  • San Hunter-Gatherer Society: knowledge of the environment, seasonal resources, the bow and arrow, hunting practices and the importance of sharing within the group.
  • Khoikhoi Herder Society: the pastoral way of life, including cattle, sheep and goats, as well as interactions between the Khoikhoi and San.
  • Rock Art & the Linton Panel: the importance of San rock art, religion, symbolism, storytelling and the connection between the Linton Panel and South Africa’s coat of arms.
