Help your Grade 5 learner prepare for Term 2 English First Additional Language with this comprehensive ATP-aligned 40-mark practice test, complete with a full memorandum. The test has a duration of 1 hour.
The test includes:
- Reading Comprehension – 15 marks: an informational article about the discovery of a new dinosaur species, assessing comprehension, identifying important information, vocabulary, true or false, antonyms, adjectives, understanding words in context and giving an opinion with a reason.
- Visual Literacy – 10 marks: interpreting a colourful zoo festival advertisement, including dates, location, operating hours, activities, ticket prices and target information, as well as analysing the visual features that make a poster stand out.
- Summary Writing – 5 marks: reading an information text about The Mysterious Island and summarising the most important information into five sentences using 30–40 words.
- Language Structures & Conventions – 10 marks: punctuation, homophones, simple present tense, conjunctions, present progressive tense, prepositions, verbs, verb tenses and plural nouns.
